Quirky, Local, Contemporary Products
Insideout in Bampfylde Street, Princesshay, is a growing brand that brings together an array of desirable and occasionally quirky contemporary lifestyle products. Their aim is to offer the ultimate shopping experience in an uninhibiting and inspirational environment.
“At Insideout we want to be seen as the team that know their stuff and are trusted to bring our customers the best there is to offer in the market place. In 2008 Insideout won the “Service Excellence” award from the Federation of Small Businesses.”
Insideout has a personality of its own. Cleverly captivating customers from a range of social and economic backgrounds, the shop contains an eclectic mix of enticing and thoughtfully displayed products, which are not only desirable but also obtainable.
The ranges include stylish handbags by Orla Kiely & Cath Kidston, beautiful jewellery by Pilgrim, Rosie Fox & Starinbar. There is also a vast array of gifts, homewares & accessories including scarves, bath & body products, candles, tableware & ceramics.
Other brands stocked include, Gisela Graham, Jellycat, Magpie & Sass & Belle.
Handmade in Britain
Last year Insideout launched their Handmade in Britain range. They now also stock the best in locally designed & made products including greetings cards, ceramics, glass & jewellery. They feel this offers their customers the chance to purchase something really beautiful and unique which has been made with love and care, whilst at the same time supporting other small businesses.
Insideout work closely with our handmade suppliers to ensure that they always have something a little bit different to offer their customers. They are always looking for new local talent to design products for their handmade range. If you are interested in working with them do pop in to the Exeter store & speak to Amanda or Serena for more details.
We are extremely proud to have opened our store in the highly competitive environment of the Princesshay Shopping Centre in the heart of Exeter. Opening in a development of this scale has raised our profile as an independent sitting alongside retailers such as Apple, Hobbs, Next and Debenhams.
The Manager, Amanda says:-
“We strive to offer an exceptional shopping experience. Our team welcome customers and are able to offer assistance and advice in a friendly unobtrusive fashion.
We define ourselves by the service we provide, a friendly, local approach. We want to stand out in our customer’s minds as the place to go to guarantee new and progressive product lines, excellent product knowledge and the best attention to service.”
Nicky Edmunds (owner) was awarded “Credit Suisse Entrepreneur of the Year” for Wales and the West Country at the National Business Awards 2007.

Described as a treasure trove of inspiration, Tim Danaher (editor of Retail Week) said that the shops were part of the fabric of the region, good at their PR and marketing and I love their customer service policy.

The Insideout Story
In 2004 Nicky & Paul Edmunds started the business using the equity from the sale of their home in London. After a successful career in recruitment Nicky & Paul felt they wanted to return to Devon to bring up their two young children and start up a business of their own, it was a gamble, but
Fortunately it paid off & they now own three branches of Insideout in Tavistock, Dartmouth & Exeter. The online arm of the business is www.gottohaveit.co.uk .
