Description
Nestled at the end of an alley, just off the top of Fore Street in the heart of Exeter, you’ll find the Bike Shed Theatre. With a 60 seat subterranean auditorium and adjacent vintage cocktail tavern, the venue has performances nearly every night of the year. Championing new work and innovation, the theatre has gained national acclaim for its shows, winning a Peter Brook Empty Space award in 2011.
Meanwhile, the bar serves award winning cocktails, local ale, cider and juices and a carefully selected wine list. Add live music on Fridays and DJs on Saturdays and The Bike Shed Theatre & Bar is Exeter’s hottest cultural night-spot.
We have something going on almost every night of the year, from theatre to music to spoken word to film to comedy. Come pick up a brochure and have a look!
The theatre started as a pop-up space for a 12 weeks for a new play, co-directed by Fin Irwin and David Lockwood, who ran theatre company Particular Theatre.
Slowly we settled in, developing the adjacent cellar into a fully working auditorium and installing a cool new cocktail bar, offically opening our doors permanently in September 2010. We hope to provide, a unique, intimate relationship with our favourite performers to the people of Exeter and beyond.
