Café At the Castle

Situated facing Exeter Castle in a historic part of town, Caffé Espresso offers tables on two levels as well as additional seating outside. The owner describes the business as four parts café, one part bistro.

As well as excellent coffee and freshly baked cakes and treats, there are specials board which offers an ever changing range of dishes, inspired by a keen interest in food and café culture.

The Café itself is hosted by attentive and friendly staff who enjoy what they do. The food is individual to the café and is unlikely to be found anywhere else in Exeter. Ideal for a good simple meal with a glass of wine and a decent cup of coffee.

On a quiet day it’s a good place to tuck yourself away from the hustle and bustle of the high street. However, on a busy day, sit yourself down near the coffee machine and observe what one customer once described as being “a cabaret”.

“I fell into catering by accident after spending twelve years in printing, at which time was becoming digitalized and this did not appeal to me. However, people and food did! Now, I am very happy on this path. There is always so much to learn, so much to try and so much to enjoy!”
