Saltcity Surfshop in Exeter, was established November 1990 and still going strong in Fore Street. It caters for beginner’s and experts alike

At Saltcity we want you to be happy with your product, so if after 12 surfs you’re not, bring your surfboard back and we will change it for you free of charge!!! That’s something you don’t get off the internet!

Saltcity is an old school surfshop that will always put the customer first. And if you don’t believe them, pop in and see for yourself and get a friendly welcome and plenty of free advice. They will always endeavour to sell you the right thing – and if you are not happy, they will sort it out for you. Simple good old fashioned customer service!

The Saltcity Story

Owner Rich says:-

I started Saltcity back in 1990 as an 18 year old with a passion for surfing and to be honest I didn’t particularly want a “proper” job. Surfing was my life and I saw an opportunity to open a small shop, so I did. I borrowed some money from a family friend and off I went. It was a hobby but it meant I was involved with my passion 7 days a week. When the surf was good, I just shut the shop and went surfing!

I could do that then.

Now at 41 years old, nearly 23 years later, I have grown up (just a little!) but that passion and love still remains, even though I can’t surf as much and just shut the shop like I use too (that’s kids, wifey, mortgage and adulthood for you!!!)

But it’s all still in there. Still loving Saltcity and will continue to do so, hopefully, for the next 23 years.

Owner Rich says that he has lots of wonderful stories and some famous people in the shop over the years, but he wants to tell you these stories face to face. He’ll make you giggle and brighten up your day and even buy you a coffee while you are in store.
